Rachel is an experienced speaker and trainer in Specific Learning Difficulties with extensive involvement of working in the education sector. Her roles included; teaching assistant, classroom teacher, SENDCo and university lecturer. Her passion for meeting the learning needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities led her to specialise in this field. She has worked as an Inclusion Consultant in Learning Disabilities with strategic lead for dyslexia for Calderdale Local Authority (LA).
While working as an inclusion consultant Rachel developed and delivered a package of support for Primary and Secondary schools supporting and training them to achieve the Dyslexia Quality Mark. She led a working party working closely with the LA raising awareness of dyslexia. A culmination of her work led Calderdale LA achieve the British Dyslexia Association Quality Mark.
Rachel is co-director of Understanding and Supporting Learning (US-L) works closely with schools, colleges and educational organisations delivering national and regional SEND training for the National Education Union, PATOSS; Local Dyslexia Associations of the British Dyslexia Association and the Five Minute Box.
In addition to this Rachel has continued to teach pupils, students and adults with dyslexia providing specialist support for individuals and groups.

Helen is a specialist SpLD teacher and assessor, as well as being an experienced qualified SENDCo. With a masters in SEND and over ten years’ experience in teaching, SENDCo and senior management in schools across Yorkshire, she has up to date working knowledge of a broad spectrum of special needs and inclusive strategies. She enjoys working with pupils, families and professionals to identify SEND and consulting on practical strategies and next steps in each individual case, as well as planning policies and whole school approaches that are informed by best practice.
Helen understands the challenges faced by leaders and educators, and facilitates positive and achievable solutions. She prides herself on being relatable and understanding, and enjoys coaching and working collaboratively. Helen is also chair of West Yorkshire PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with SpLD), and lead organiser of Leeds Dyslexia Festival.
