We provide SEND solutions in education.

SEND Solutions offer training in SEND and neurodiversity, Specific Learning Difficulties, assessments and consultation. We are a small team of highly qualified and experienced SEND professionals based in West Yorkshire.

Supporting schools by providing SEND solutions throughout Yorkshire.

We are passionate about supporting schools to provide high quality inclusive teaching for all learners and specialised intervention for learners with SEND. We know that inclusivity and provision for vulnerable groups is one of your priorities, but standard teacher training in SEND, and SEND central services are known to be limited in our area.

We will work with you and your community to collaboratively bridge that gap, designing informed packages of support that meet the needs of your school and deliver results. We look forward to working with you on your SEND provision development journey.

One full day of whole staff training on Dyslexia Awareness and Creating a Dyslexia Friendly Learning Environment.

4/ Monitoring

Additional Training, Screening and Consultation days.

There are additional training days available to develop understanding of the barriers to reading and writing, and how to develop strategies for teaching pupils with dyslexia in these areas. These are cohort specific.

Although the training is designed to meet the specific needs of a learner with dyslexia, it is broadly recognised that, ‘what works for a learner with dyslexia works for all learner.’ This is essential training for all schools and colleges to meet your wider inclusion approach.

Additional screening and consultation days are available, to identify the specific needs of more pupils, and consult on wider SEND needs, offer SENDCo and teacher coaching, develop further understanding in complex cases, and support for meetings.

A Person-Centred Approach

Our approach is underpinned by the Person-Centred Approach, which means we take time to listen to your needs and the culture of your school and pupils. This can be used to inform a bespoke package of support, designed to align with your vision and current priorities. We plan strategic paths with you that are solution focused, and offer high quality, accredited service in which you can be confident.

This includes working alongside our trusted partners in allied professions. Having worked in schools and local authorities ourselves, we understand the demands placed on schools to deliver results with limited resources. Our aim is to help you maximise the impact of our involvement and expertise, and plan for longevity of that impact.

Accessing Funding

You may fund SEND identification and training through your core, notional SEND or top up funding, or you may want to explore other funding avenues to be in a position to commission SEND Solution services. This may include working with our local funding partner; Straight Forward Funding. She helps schools to source funding grants, and write successful bids for funding. You can find out more and contact Straight Forward Funding at straightforwardfunding.com.

“I would recommend Helen to all schools”

“Helen spent a day at our school and worked with six pupils. She arrived early to get background information. At the end of the process a written report was given for each of the children, outlining what skills the children had and the gaps in their knowledge. She gave practical ideas and useful resources to help support the children. Her knowledge about other areas of SEND was also valuable and Helen was able to signpost and suggest ways to support the children who did not show signs of dyslexia. I found the day incredibly useful and would recommend Helen to all schools.”

“Helen was calming, encouraging and very professional”

“I recently arranged a Dyslexia Screening test for our 10-year-old child with Helen, and she came to our home to perform this. Our child was naturally nervous given that she was going to be doing some tests performed by a stranger, but was soon put at ease enough to participate fully. Helen was calming, encouraging and very professional throughout, and my worries over my child being ‘tested’ vanished, as it was nothing to be scared whatsoever. Once the results of the test were calculated, Helen came back to explain them in an easy to understand way, which was really reassuring to us as worried parents. The report included all areas; of strength and weakness, along with recommendations for parents to support at home. Whilst the screening wasn’t a full diagnostic assessment, it gives you a really good idea if concerns are valid and arms you with more ideas to support, and structured information should you need to have a conversation with your child's school.”
